Their harsh visual aesthetic, Dave E.'s caustic vocals, the embrace of violence, preference for songs about hating people and loving car wrecks, primitive and brutal guitar (no bass, but an occasional lawnmower or vacuum was welcome), clothes festooned with rat traps or safety pins ... the eels did it all '73-'75.
